I am a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist residing in the city of Courtenay, in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island, Canada. A classically trained baritone, I accompany myself on nylon-strung lever harp, gut-strung medieval harp, guitar and psaltery.

My repertoire centres on my own compositions and improvisations inspired by nature, love, and the passing seasons, but also includes a wealth of traditional folk music (England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Isle of Man, Iceland, Norway, Germany, Italy, Japan, Quebec), and early music (medieval France, Italy, England, Scandinavia).

I am available for concerts, performances at weddings and providing music for private functions. I am also a harp teacher and am currently accepting harp students.

“His voice would charm a lark right out of the sky.”

Sean Buckley, Celtic Folk Club, Calgary

“In all my years as a musician I have only heard a few such gorgeous voices.  Roger’s singing is like velvet.  His voice has this clear, transparent, warm, completely natural sound that truly makes you want to melt away.  And he tells the song’s story so simply and beautifully.”

Lori Pappajohn, harpist, singer, director of Winter Harp
